It was my Grandfathers and when he passed away last summer I inherited it.
It is a 1955.

I had my Gunsmith cut the barrel down to 18" and put a Cowboy action bead on it. The gun is in very good condition.

It seems every time I buy a gun I have some Know it all telling me that I should have gotten something different.

Is BM good or not?

Bushmaster has had several military contracts to the best of my knowledge. They also make the ACR which everyone and their mom is freaking out about. The only thing I'd probably replace would be the bolt. Get a MP/HP tested bolt. BCM makes a great one.
