Default New AR build - First One

Plan on building my first AR soon. I want to start out with this kit...

Model 1 Sales: 5.56/.223 C.A.R.

and then buy a Ammo Surplus and Arms stripped lower.

Has anyone ordered from model1sales?

A friend I know mentioned this in a local build thread...

Quote:
Model 1 Sales: <- If you buy from model1sales, DO NOT PAY WITH A CREDIT CARD UNLESS IT'S A PREPAID CREDIT CARD. You will always get what you pay for, but their system isn't very secure and people have been known to get itunes charges on their cards after making purchases over $400.
However your mileage may vary

I think M14 or slow said something positive about them.

Their site looks similar to RRA's.

I am curious as to what has drawn you to this specific kit? There are all sorts of kits out there, Model1 is the only one I have heard any such mysterious claims about, But, Like I said you mileage may vary.

Check out Del-Ton, they are pretty inexpensive and put together several different kits to choose from.

Honestly, I just saw their ad in a magazine that I picked up at Barnes Noble. I will check out Delton, I have come across of few of their kits on gunbroker i think.

Awesome!

I think I might order the Delton now. Should I go with the lightweight or heavy barrel?

Most of the shooting for I will be doing with this gun will be less than 100 yards. And I care much more about reliability then being able to hit the same hole with ten rounds

Thats a great question, I dont have an answer for...
I have a 20" HBAR on one of my AR's and a 7.62x39 on the other.
I think its up to you, It sounds like you wouldn't need a HBAR.
Search around to to see what might fit for your needs or wants.
I found this an informative read
So you want to buy an AR-15, huh?
Best of luck
