new to the AR
Hello, iam new to the ar 15. I recently purchased this, Rifle, AR15, 5.56, 16" HF, M10, Mid LPGB Rif FSB, MOE BLK, manufacturer is CMMG. I could use a little help with all the abbreviations. Was wondering if this is a good AR? I bought it because of all the bans comming up and just feel its my right to own one.
Thanks

Welcome! I will confer question to those better versed in the AR platform.
In todays climate, if it walks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, grab that duck, and keep your powder dry.

16 inch Hammer Forged barrel
Mid length gas system, the other options are carbine and rifle.
Low Profile Gas Block under the hand guard, with a Fixed Sight Block at rifle length position on the barrel.
BLK = black, not flat dark earth, camo, etc.
Has a Magpul MOE stock and handgrip.
Some low cost advice, never ask a forum if you made a good purchase AFTER you bought the firearm. Stick to questions about how to get more enjoyment out of your SUR, and have fun.

this a good choice? all the dealers were selling out when i bought it. i jump at the first thing available. i think it a good choice, but man, it hard to find anything for it. magazines, hard to come by. cant find them on the internet, iam from green bay, wi, fleet farm is about the only place to get them, and they only allow you to buy one at a time. ammo really difficult. thanks for the response.

Yep, everything is short right now. Be patient, keep an eye on the deals, deals, deals thread in the AR section.
Stick with reputable vendors, you may have to wait longer, but you are less likely to overpay, get low quality merchandise or both.

Ah, Green Bay, sooooooo close to BCM!
But in these times, sooooo far away.
Anyway, last summer CMMG had a rash of out of spec lowers but hopefully it's corrected by now. Make sure empty PMAGs drop free. Or any quality mag. Otherwise CMMG is an average quality AR, not a BCM but not a low end brand like Vulcan.
Anyway keep an eye out for good quality mags. As Gatoragn said, don't forget the Deals, Deals, Deals thread here.

You'll remember the quality of a gun long after you forget how much you paid for it.
