New ar.

Mite be picking up a ar its a s&w m&por. Its selling for around 900$ is there a huge difference with this and the m&p sport. I seen the sport is almost 200$ cheaper any suggestions ? Go with the smith or maybe look around for a bushmaster or spikes ? Im new to ars so bare with me thank you

The Sport makes sense. It has no forward assist which is a waste of money in a sporter rifle. No sights means you can choose your own or anything you want on the top rail. absolutely go for it. It was my first AR.

Edit: Got mine for 600 a few years back. Looks like it is 50% up, more than average appreciation for an AR model.

I have an M&P 10 I like a lot and a Spikes 5.56 which I love. I'd say either the Smith or a Spikes would get the job done.

$900 is the high end of what the M&P "optics ready" should be going for.

It's a good rifle. An upgrade from a Bushmaster, maybe not better than a Spikes tho. That all depends on the price and model.

I dont mind payn a tad extra especially if hes throwing a decent scope in. When u say high end how much we talkin ?

Bought mine when S&W was still a new name for an AR. They've done well, and now are trading on the brand name. But, looked it up just now - as low as $609 NIB on GB, and there are a few. As far as quality, it was solid, no problems of any kind. Honestly, I think it's a steal.

Your scope is a little too much for a carbine. If you plan to shoot long range, rather than run around with it, consider a rifle length gas system and a heavier barrel.
