My wife's AR build

Okay so after shooting my new AR my wife said she just had to have one. After a UPS delivery delay we ended up with two LPK's. So I ran down to the LGS and picked up another lower and we went home and put it together. I helped a little but had her do all the work. We are still shopping around for her upper (waiting until after Tax time). Here is what she has so far.

Looks nice. I'm sure she appreciates the color fill.

Why do your clips look like they have had flame put to them? ;)

Here it is. I just wish we had a upper for it. She is starting to put together a shopping list that puts mine to shame but how the hell can I say no to her.

The finish seems to be a bit dried out from the acetone or mineral spirits you used doing the color. Try just spraying a bit of clp or gun oil and letting it soak a bit and wiping off the excess to even it out.

I am so jealous. I would love to build an AR. :o

Excellent project for you and your wife! I'm sure it will turn out well.

I've been tempted by those Quality Arms lowers, it would be nice to build an AR on an in-state lower.

WOC, time's a wasting! :D You know you can do it and you'll get a lot of support here. It's really not that hard to put together a lower then shop around for a factory tested upper. Sure you'll stumble a little at first, we all do, but it will work out great in the end. When is the last time you ever heard anyone here say they wish they hadn't done an AR build!

WOC, with the challenges you've dealt with on that Ruger, you should be able to handle it.

It may be easier for you to start with a kit, instructions, and a massive support system like this, than to try to fix a basket case like you've already done!

Yeah the pictures were taken before we finished it off with a good lube job. ;)

~ don't kid yourself, the size of a man's gun really DOES matter ~
