Default My first AR build

O.k., first off, I want to thank everyone that responded to my last couple of posts about an AR build. They really helped. I have finally completed my build. Honestly, the hardest part was deciding how much I wanted to spend, & what parts to use. I only ended up spending $800, but got everything I wanted and more. I bought a complete upper from Tactical Ammo in Saint Helens, OR. It has a Stainless match grade barrel chambered in 6.8 spc, and a Troy flat top hand guard with three movable rails for toys. I was throwing around the idea of using a Plumb Crazy lower, but with help from you's guys, I decided to stick with an aluminum lower. My LPK is a DPMS, but I'm thinking about going to a 2 stage trigger. The butt stock I got from a friend, and I have a sniper grip on the way. I had a blast doing this, and already have plans for more. Here is a pic of it before I got the butt stock. I'll post more when I can get some good ones.

Congrats! Looks good! I ran a Geissele SSA 2 stage in my current AR for testing purposes. Put 300rds through with zero issues, it's a wicked trigger but IMO was too light for my defense rifle so it now sits in my second lower waiting for an upper. Just food for thought YMMV

I will be hitting the range this weekend. Went last Sunday, but found out that the bolt that was in the upper was one for a 5.56, and needed 6.8. I have the right bolt now, and itching to shoot it. Will update then.

Man that's one heck of a nice pistol you got there!

J/K ... Nice job, Ozz.

I heard from a friend that I might be able to use 5.56 mags for 6.8 rounds. Is there any truth to that, cause that would save me some cash on mags.

I finally got my AR to the range. Not use to sighting in scopes, so by the time I got it zeroed, I was out of ammo I should have a better range report soon.

Congratulations and I'm sure a lot of folks would like to hear how the 6.8 performs.

Keep us updated and don't forget the gun pron!
