Moving away from "AR" to "MSR"
I know AR is abbreviated for Armalite. Others such as all fun haters think assault rifle. I came across this MSR abbreviation and consider it an evolution. Modern Sporting Rifle, brilliant. IMO. Fin.

I like AR myself...

I don't know if it will catch on. The only people I mention the AR too are other gun enthusiasts.

Modern Sporting Rifle is what Walmart calls their rifles built on the AR platform. The first place I ever saw the phrase modern sporting rifle was Walmart. Walmart sells more AR-15's than anyone. They aren't doing it on price either.
LGS have their home built rifles cheaper than Walmart. But they are just that, cheap. They have the cheapest everything, even sights. People are buying from Walmart because the LGS is overpriced on most items. People don't bother to call for a price. Not to mention the bull manure the LGS tries to feed everyone. They sell Surefire flashlights for $120. Everyone knows you can get the exact same light on Ebay for $30 with another name. The $30 light has a cree bulb, aluminum housing, rubber gaskets and five position clickity click switch. Yet the LGS will tell you the Surefire is a superior light. |
A lot of folks here use SUR, sport utility rifle.
To me it's just an AR, AR-15 or semiauto rifle. |
Every time I see the word "assault rifle" I loose 3 IQ points.

It will always be AR to me also. With the political winds today it couldn't hurt to play politics. On a lighter note I took my AR, SUR, MSR and shot 250 rounds today.
