A buddy and me went to the range last weekend and shot his new Mossburg, I was pretty impressed with it, especially with the free float rail design, really accurate, 350 rounds-not one misfire. It does have a dustcover, no it doesn't have a FA which doesn't bother me (did my stint in the "Sandbox" not needed in the civilian world IMO) never used it on another AR I owned. $725 with tax didnt seem bad for a an AR, I love my Mossburg shotguns, Anyone else know much about these rifles or have bought one? Interested for weekend plinking really, Thanks.

I thought all AR-15's were already tactical, seems like having it in the name is redundant. Anyway nice looking gun and looks like your gonna need more ammo!

C'mon having "Tactical" in the name was the main selling point for me! lol! Seriously, the rifle performed like champ, just not familiar with Mossburg AR's, but I was impressed, thinking about one for myself.

I guess it depends on the set up. I wouldn't exactly concider this to be tactical (in the modern sense). (I want one )
If it's covered in rails, fancy sights, lights, ect. Then I concider that tactical.

Damnit, damnit, damnit. I was at the distributor last week and I told my rep I wanted to see one. The boss said don't bother we aren't buying one today anyway. I told him I wanted to check it out and see if I wanted some set aside. It didn't happen. I got an email from the distributor a couple days ago to tell me they had almost 300 in stock. I called back 3 minutes later and they were sold out. Now I see people want them as I expected and we don't have any. Wtf

Does that barrel seem kinda long? What is it, 20 or 24 inches long? Didn't realize their MMR was a 5.56, only MMR I've seen was for hunting and was in 308 and was camo. Mossberg's quality has really gone up in past few years and everything they use on their rifles is made in USA. I have a Mossberg ATR100 in 30-06 and it's extremely accurate.

T-man the barrel is 16.5" long according to the one rifle magazine review- Here's part of it- Mossberg MMR Tactical 65014Specifications:Caliber: 5.56x45mm NATOBarrel: 16.25″Overall: 36.5″ – 32.5″Weight: 7.5 LBS emptyCapacity: 30 round magazine (included)Sights: Detachable non-folding iron sights (optional)MSRP: $950 ($655 – $720 street)Ratings (Out of Five Stars):All ratings are relative to other similar guns, and the final score IS NOT calculated from the constituent scores.Accuracy: * * * * *The free floating barrel is a very nice touch. Combined with the heavy government profile barrel I’ve found it to be an extremely accurate gun, and I have no doubt that some minor upgrades would improve it further.Ergonomics (Handling): * *Oh dear God the handguards…Ergonomics (Firing): * *The trigger absolutely kills this rating.Reliability: * * * * *As long as you keep it nice and lubed (we’re pretty sure the test model came out of a vat of motor oil) everything will be fine.Customization: * * * * *The full length m1913 rail on the top and the rails on the side of the handguards make it very easy to customize this rifle.Overall Rating: * * * *Compared to everything else out there, and even including my complaints about the trigger and the handguards, its not a bad rifle. Compared to the other sub-$1k AR-15s, its fantastic. You’re $100 in upgrades away from a rifle I would be comfortable using in 3-gun competitions.Full Disclosure: This rifle was provided by Mossberg for the purposes of reviewing for the site. It is en route back to Mossberg.

Texaswoodworker, I have gone back to look at your AR with the wood like 5 times now! Is it the wood or the girl my eye is drawn to? Very nice either way! D.
