They are the magpul ranger plates, you can buy them seperate or already on the mags..

I have tried my tapco mags on a complete mil spec AR and the same thing occurs. I don't want to go too cheap, under twenty is my goal. And everything on my carbon 15 is milspec except for the buffer tube to my knowledge. The rifle is awesome low maintenance to the point of not rusting and it's hard as nails.

Here are the pics. They're nothing fancy and it wasn't as sunny outside as I would've liked, but oh well. Maybe I can get some better ones tomorrow.

As you can see in these pics, the steel feed lips are a one-piece, molded in unit. You can also see how the bottom of the feed lip piece works as the locking tab. I doubt it would be an issue, but I've heard of this area wearing on all polymer units.
