I have a DS Arms upper as well.

I just received my MBUS rear sight and installed it. my optic was already installed and zeroed.

when the rear sight is down, its flat and out of the way of the optic. flip it up, and take a sight picture through the peep hole, its nearly dead on to where my red dot is... I haven't fired it yet, but I'm going to assume that when I look through the peep, and take a normal sight picture with the front iron sight, and it all lines up with where my red dot is, that my iron sights are dang near zero.

I agree. That's the way I prezero a RDS before going to the range. I know my irons are right so just lollipop the red dot on the front sight and go. As long as you have a good solid mount then the reverse should work as well.

The biggest issue with assembling an AR isn't so much getting the parts together right - it's getting the right parts together.

You'll remember the quality of a gun long after you forget how much you paid for it.

What is a good magnified scope that would work with the mbus rear and iron front

None. You cannot use magnification with iron sights. The magnification will make the FRont Sight blurry. Red dots with no magnification will work as long as it is mounted the right height.
