Some use it for quick mag changes. It attaches two mags together. You just pull out the empty mag then insert the other. Quicker than pulling your next mag from you chest rig or belt.

Indeed. Used mainly for timed shooting rifle competitions and when one really needs to change out a mag quickly during a sudden incoming zombie swarm.
