Default Magazine catch

Does the pin that holds the magazine catch drive forward towards the muzzle or towards the stock ? Can't see well enough to tell

To install, I drive toward the muzzle. I would drive toward the stock to remove. I purchased an AR tool kit from Brownells when I built my first lower, it included a punch with a flat side made specifically to remove the bolt catch. BROWNELLS - BOLT CATCH PIN PUNCH

Just a word of warning if you're gonna scuff up your lower doing anything, this is it.

Mag catch or bolt catch? Mag catch is threaded. Bolt catch is pinned.

Yeah one. Tape is not the best option though. I prefer to use a wood shim. You can have the worst hand eye coordination in the world and you aren't going to mar your lower through that. Works great when teaching people how to build.
