Still searching for a good one though.
All the indoor ranges up here allow AR's... I will have to search for an outdoor range up here.

Closest one to me requires a $300 membership, $350 'joining fee', and you HAVE to be a member of the NRA to join it.
I don't do well being commanded to do something.

Ben, how close are you to the NC border? I live 20 minutes from GA and we have a great outdoor range here that you can shoot anything you want, as fast as you want.

To North Carolina? That would take me quite a while. I'm about thirty minutes from bama.

That's a three hour drive, but I know I have to make it once at least so I can cut loose.

I just want reliable without having to sell one of the kids. (Well, they can buy the oldest, but he ain't worth much.)
it works pretty well. it has 7 brightness levels to choose from. I always turn the dial backwards and go straight to number 7. I've never had any problems seeing it, even in broad daylight. No, I don't use a magnifier with it, but I'm sure it could be done if you really wanted to. I prefer to have mine mounted right to the flat top and co-witness with the iron sights in case the battery should ever fail. It hasn't yet... But ya never know...

I've used a BSA on a couple of rifles. Do you still have a rear backup sight? And if you do, can you just see through the red dot sight lens to use your irons?

Yes, I originally had this sight mounted to the top of the carry handle but I now have the carry handle removed with the sight mounted right to the flat top. I purchased a flip up rear iron.

Yes, my rear iron and the holo sight are set up co-witness. If the battery ever fails on the optic, I will already be looking through the irons anyways.

My sight picture with this setup looks like a normal iron sight sight picture with the crosshairs of the optic kind of floating in the middle and lined right up with the irons. I absolutely love it this way. Everyone else who shoots it also seems to really like it as well.
