lower reciever question

when you buy a lower receiver, they consider that the "gun" right?
in other words, i have to buy that through an ffl dealer unlike the other parts? (upper reciever, etc.)

That's correct the lower is the only part a 4473 has to be filled out on. You also have to be 21 to buy it.

Armed-Citizen 10-11-2012 07:13 PM

21 really? i thought rifles and shotguns one could buy 18, handguns for 21?

Dillinger 10-11-2012 07:15 PM

I am unsure of the age, but a lower receiver can be built into either a long gun or a "pistol" so that would make sense on the age of 21 restriction.

Armed-Citizen 10-11-2012 07:17 PM

true. didn't recall that. one more year than.....
if one was going to buy a complete ar rifle, then you don't have to be 21 than right?

bige91603 10-11-2012 07:43 PM

That would be correct

silverado113 10-11-2012 07:56 PM

Yep it's 21 for lowers and PG shotguns.
