Sorry, was the USA tactical a billet lower by chance? That may explain the price difference.

Not sure if it was billet. I plucked both lowers and they sounded exactly the same (for whatever that's worth).

If you're going to spend $1200+ on the build, do your best to get ahold of a higher end lower receiver. This might not make your gun functionally better, but it will essentially become your gun's 'hood ornament'...the brand by which it will be forever identified...translation: resale value.

I recommend Noveske above all else if you can get one (difficult). But there are other fine options like BCM, Umbrella, STS, Black Rain, Mega, etc. Billet is also a nice touch that will help value.

If it's a 'keeper' or you're trying to keep the budget down, I've been very happy with Spike's and PSA. Every PSA I've built on (6 so far) has come together well and been an extremely tight fit. I build a lot on PSA for this very reason. I have a DD, two BCM uppers built on Noveske lowers; yet my end of times SHTF gun would be a BCM build on a PSA lower...not because it's marketable, but because it's great. It's that simple.

Great product, stupid price.

Might be worth it for the right build, but I'd always have that little voice in the back of my head chiming, "You were had".

Spikes and CMMG are nice lowers. My first AR build has a lower that says CMT (Continental Machine & Tool) the predecessor to STAG.
