exactly. my aimpoint has 4 "NVG" settings, that are compatible with NVGs, but it does NOT turn the optic into an NVG device. it simply allows you to wear/use NV and not "white out" the optic by using the visible red dot.
you can find an aimpoint like this for $500-ish. I don't know how much you'd spend on a NV scope to go with it though.
