Accuracy will be the same. If anything, the 16 inch will be more accurate. Velocity is what will be different. You'll get somewhere around 200 more fps out of the 20" over the 16".

20" is a good compromize barrel lenght. Look to Wilson Arms barrels 1-8 twist for lower cost but still very accurate. I have seen a couple of them shooting under 1/2" at 100 yards with match ammo and under 3/8" with pet loads but they all were 24"

I'd say go with the 16" the 20" wont give as good as a performace as the 16" for hunting ranges, I'm assuming it wont be any farther that 200 yards? the 20 will just be an extra 2 inches for things to get snagged on in the woods and stuff

depends on what your hunting and how far away your hunting it.

20" will outperform a 16" in velocity and effective range every day of the week.

for hunting the 556/223 is subpar at best. your going to want every ounce of energy and speed you can get out of a heavy hunting bullet.

If your going to be hunting coyote I would definatly go with the 16 in. barrel. That said DPMS has a special going on their 16 in. barreled uppers and there is guy here local that is selling the whole gun for $ 600 with a colapable stock, can you build one less than that?
