Lefty question
My wife and I finally go to shoot our ARs however she's a lefty and had a bit of a problem with the brass hitting her. Is there an attachment we can buy (other than a shell catcher) to prevent this?

Shell catchers are pretty cheap, if you don't wanna fork over the cash for a left-handed rifle they're probably your best bet.

Gotcha I just wasn't sure if there was a less bulky alternative.

Also if you're using low powered ammo you could try hotter ammo, it should bounce forward off the brass deflector. My low powered stuff angles off around 4 o'clock while stronger stuff goes out around 2-3.
Has she tried to shoot right handed?

Couple of options.
Learn to shoot righty
Stronger ammo usually 68grns and up
Brass catcher or deflector
Convert to lefty upper(expensive)
Black insert and rubber oring in the extractor gives it more forward ejection even with a little weaker ammo.

I am a lefty. There is a brass deflector that just clips on the upper right by the ejection port. I was issued one when I was in the army. My AR doesnt put brass in my face. So I havent bothered to look for one. It is a small piece. Unless you know what it is you would not know one if you saw it. I will see if I can find a pic somewhere. Cant be too expensive. I would be suprised if is was more than $20 or $30. Unless you are purchasing for the military then it is probably $600. LOL.

I have not bought anything from this sight. And I havent seen one since I got out of the army in 1986. But this is similar to what I was using.
I got this pic from the internet. It is an actual military one. Just thought the photo might help you. You might see one at a gun show. You never know.
