Default Law enforcement only?

If a gun is marked in such a manner is there anyway a civilian can own one ? Just curious I think that departments sell their firearms after a while and they would be marked right?

Marking that typically dated back to the (expired) assault weapons ban. Basically, meaningless in most states.

Yep got a friend who owns a colt with it stamped on there and he has no affiliation with law enforcement it was just made during the ban nothing special about it.

I have never seen a firearm marked Leo or military only. Just magazines.

Why do you feel it necessary to list your guns?

It happened, up until recently all the LE prefix Colt ARs were marked Law Enforcement/Government Only.

During the "ban" both magazines and firearms were restricted. You "plebes" were not allowed to have the high caps or all of the cool features like colllapsible/folding stocks, flash hiders, pistol grips, bayonet lugs and detachable magazines. Many rifles were produced with the tacticool features and sold to LE officers and agencies. Some of those are being cycled out now and replaced with new guns. I have a Saiga 12 ga that is marked "LE only".

if your not in some unconstitutional state like illinois commifornia newyork taxachussettes or the like the only time LE/Goverment only may have some bearing is on a M16A1 or M16A2 none of them are technically legal to own as the government has never sold M16 military issue full auto as surplus.

there are some out there in private hands with such markings that were obtained from legal sales from police agencies before reagan's gun ban but not many. its one of those grey areas when dealing with full auto nfa stuff you really gotta do your homework
