Default LaRue or DD....

...or ? Hello all. I am looking to buy my first AR. I have learned as much as I can take for the last 6 months. A couple top companys I have narrowed down to are DD and LaRue. I am open to more though. I want to buy a complete rifle and maybe down the road I will build one. My wife is 4 months prego and this may be my first and last AR for awhile. I would like to get a top notch gun right off the batt. I plan on using it for alot of hunting here on the ranch and to protect my family. I really don't think I need a big 'ol SS bull barrel. From what I have read a regular 'ol barrel will do me good. I really desire quality. I want something to be proud of and know I can count on. Any comments, ideas, or suggestions you can throw my way would be great. I respect each and every one of them. Thank you very much.

Can't go wrong with either of those. LaRue has a really nice .308 caliber ar that you might want to look into for a little more punch out hunting

Dd is more of a combat type gun, I think you should be considering Noveske or LaRue or KAC.

I know it will sound silly, but what are you going to be hunting primarily? That can also have an impact.

I will be hunting hogs and coyotes. I would load a little heavier bullet for the hogs.
Thanks.

So you think 5.56 will suffice? If you're toting the rifle a lot the DD LW barrel might be perfect. I love mine.

5.56 will be fine most of the time. No problem for the coyotes and with a heavier bullet and good placement no problem for the hogs. I have plenty of other rifles if I need something bigger.

If you have Larue money get Larue. Hell, get on the list for the Costa signature Larue.
