I would not want to devalue this gun at all. Aren't most of the parts just bolt-on? If the gun has to perminatly modified in any way, i wont do it. I plan on keeping all the original parts even if i do mod it. I just want to put a collapsable stock an an accessry rail handgard on it.

Here's a place got lots of AR parts, decent prices. I got a few mods from them.

You could just get a new complete upper for it if you want a shorter barrel. Get a set of "offset pins". Your Colt receiver uses a larger front pin than any of the other uppers you will find. No biggie to mate them up.
