Another waste of tax payers dollars , and I'm confused on the colt. They say it can use any standard m4 , m16 upper but looking at it in the pics the front lug looks like it will be about 1/2" short anyone else agree or did I miss something ?

i was thinking along the same lines a few of you. have you heard lots of complaints on the current rifle not doing what we ask? no i cant see why they should do this... waste of money. would you go buy a new car the second yours hits 30,000 miles if theres nothing wrong with it? no.. oh wait. forgot the government lacks that common sense thingy most of us have.
I have been a silent witness
to all of America's finest hours.
But my finest hour comes
when I am torn into strips and used as bandages
for my wounded comrades on the battlefield,
When I fly at half-mast to honor my soldiers,
Or when I lie in the trembling arms
of a grieving mother
at the graveside of her fallen son.

That's a lot of tax payer money to replace the armys service rifle, yeah it would be nice to replace but why doesn't the army just focus on the m4 and refurbish those rifles and keep in service.

The regular army doesn't really need and interchangable weapon system, I think that's a niche for the special operations community.

They want something that they can change from 556 to a larger cal why not have a standard 762? All the power you need with the reach, it could be a cure all but when you need shorter barrel lengths for cqb your at a disadvantage with that round.

the M1A Garand was good enough to defeat the Nazi's and Imperial Japan ... I'm pretty confident the AR15 is good enough to defeat our current enemies

Just now noticed you dredged up an old thread...
The biggest issue with assembling an AR isn't so much getting the parts together right - it's getting the right parts together.
