6.5 Grendel, 6.8 spc, 300 blk, 458 socom are some good ones.

I have a 6.8 upper, but have not had an opportunity to take a deer with it yet. Maybe this season....

People do use their 5.56/223 ARs, just use a quality hunting round and make a good clean shot.

Would an AR 15 in .223 take down a black bear, not hunting but self defense?
I live in the South East Tennessee mountains and blacks are common.

I have no personal experience to offer this question but from what I've gathered from our more experienced members here is probably not...sans the perfect shot, heart/lungs/brain. It'll probably serve to piss Yogi off more than stop him...that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

ive killed dozens of deer with mine using 62 gr. sps. deer are harder to kill than black bears
