Good advise, except one area. You should not use oil/grease on the gas rings. They will get gummed up because of the high heat/pressure. Sentry Solutions makes a powder lube that can be put into the gas rings and will not gum up.

My Mobil 1 came in that huge bottle, of course. I pur some into the cap and soak patches to wipe onto some surfaces. But what do you use to drop a single drop onto, say, the trigger springs? Just a simple Walmart eye dropper?

A syringe would be a good way.

Great Write-up Sir Tango!

I use a small oil can I found at the auto parts store to drop tiny drops of oil.

I use a couple of these 1 oz, needle nose oiler bottles for tight jobs needing just a pinch, with Amsoil synthetic, or you can use some Mobile 1 synthetic in it as well.

I have a nurse as a wife so I have an endless supply of 5cc, 10cc and 60cc syringes So that is what I use. I also get her to nic me some IV catheters for the deep points. 18 or 20ga work the best.

Just bumping this back up for newbies.

If a mod stickies this I wouldn't care.

I love that grease too, but if you need some on a Sunday before a range trip, go to your local auto parts store and get "White Lithium Grease", it works great and one $5 tube lasts forever.
