Regarding the $40 rail vs $200-$300 rail, or any lower cost parts in general, it's been my experience that in most cases there is significant quality difference between the two and that's why some cost more. Almost every time I try to save money by going with a lower cost part, I'm either not satisfied with the fit and finish (which may just be my own OCD problem LOL) or there is some functional issue like the rail isn't to exact mil spec picatinny dimensions making it incompatible with true mil spec accessories like quick disconnect mounts (mount loose or don't fit) or something similar to that. Those kinds of issue cause functional and performance problems that I personally don't accept.

I demand a high level of performance I guess, and have found the buy once cry once policy to work best for me but it really just depends on what you need to do with rifle/part and what level of performance you require.

hi i am wondering i have a smooth rail and its a little over 7 inchs, my question is if i upgrade to a 9 inch FF pic rail do i have to get a longer gas tube/rod.....

so long as the tube can fit over the gas block, you are good to go. No need to buy another gas tube.

Just do a little research on how the tube you are looking at mounts. If it take a proprietary barrel nut, it may be more headache than its worth to install.
