How do you file patents on a concept that isn't even fleshed out and able to be constructed? You can't patent an idea.

thank god john moses browning did not have to deal with these ****ing laws,

Then you need to get a better lawyer. He's talking about a provisional patent, which is pretty much worthless if someone else comes out with a working prototype before you do.

Build, just for ****s and giggles, I would love to see a build on this, but, realistically, unless you have hit the lottery or something, I don't see it happening. Even disregarding the legal issues, it would take some serious engineering to build the upper that won't blow up in your face, and it won't be cheap to build. Actually, it would cost less to buy a NFA lower and one of the commercially available uppers. That is what everyone is trying to tell you. If you are so inclined, I would like to see someone build a dedicated bump firing rifle. A lot of people bumpfire without any special stocks, some don't even use the rubber band. I know there are a lot of people who poo-poo bumpfiring on this forum, but there are some who enjoy doing it, and have gotten quite good at it. A couple of years ago, there was a small informal competition at KCR for bumpfiring to see who could get the tightest shot group.

And make sure you have a trial defense lawyer on speed dial if you actually plan on building this gun. I hate to say it, but it sounds like you are on the fast track to building a relationship with big bubba.

Last ditch effort to keep you out of prison time; might I suggest taking your slide fire stock, slap a beta mag in, and put an Adams Arms piston system in. Be a whole lot cheaper than the road you are going down.
