did a little googling, and this is beggining to look more like a machining error. Pictures of relieved lugs show that they are drastically recontour the shape and size of the lug. This looks like a corner was accidently taken off at an odd asymmetrical angle. If you can, zoom into the picture i posted. Its a pretty hi res pic you can get zoom into it when its full size. Notice how on of the top corners opposite to where the chamber would be is angled off.
Let me know what you think.
Also any insights as to the firing pin issue?

Shoot it and find out . Dont put a different firing pin in we need to run this as a factory unit . If we put a different pin it we will not truely know the outcome

Here is the roster in order, according to location and schedules:
agenttikki
kytowboater
sputnik1988
kryptar19
atari101

I will pm everyone with the address to the person who is next in line.
A rough estimate looks like this experiment may be done as soon as mid February. But will most likely be done mid March.

Talked it over with Xmark and basically here are the things we need to do consistently
1) Do an initial inspection.
2) Go out and put as many rounds as you can with it.
3) Break it down, inspect it, and clean it. Voice your opinion
1) This should be done as both a safety precaution and as a baseline for you final observations. If you see cracked lugs or missing extractors etc etc DON'T USE IT. Contact Xmark or myself asap.
2) Please keep a detailed log of what kind of gun you are running with the BCG, what kind of ammo you use, and how many rounds you ran with it.
Take note of :
a) how long your barrel is.
b) who made your barrel.
c) length of gas system.
d) buffer weight.
e) buffer spring make/model.
If you have any stoppages, please write a detailed account of the problem.
If possible, experiment with it! Run it dry, run it wet. Lube it, don't lube it. Its supposed to be able to run it dry. If you notice a difference when running it wet or dry, share your observations!
3) Pull it out, clean it and inspect it. and share you opinion of it.
As always pictures and pron are always greatly appreciated.

Big thanks to AgentTikki for overseeing this while my hands are full (literally...lol)!
One thing I would like to add is that my biggest reason for giving everyone an opportunity to try this BCG for free is because more than likely, most shooters would never get to try one, unless they happened to drop the coin for one themselves. Everyone should know how a standard Mil-Spec BCG operates and cleans. This just allows everyone a chance to get some hands-on time and experience the differences, if any, themselves. This is not a "this BCG is better than that BCG" experiment, but certainly, all comments (good and bad) are welcome, as everyone will have their own opinion about this BCG. Some may realize some benefits a coated BCG offers, while others may not. Once everyone on the list has had a chance to use this BCG, they should be able to make a fairly informed decision on whether a standard Mil-Spec BCG or a coated BCG will fit their needs.
Use it with an open mind, have fun with it, get it dirty, and most importantly, shoot responsibly and safe!

And as always, wear eye and ear protection. Follow the rules of whatever range you use. Take all other safety precautions recommended in the owners manual of whatever AR you are shooting.

Added another west coaster to the party. We can squeeze him in with no downtown before Kytowboater gets off the carnival cruise ship he's partying on!
