How about a little game of BCG Hot Potato!

BCG Hot Potato is being suspended due to the horrible track record of 0-2 for coated BCGs. I am completely out of BCGs at the moment. Any suggestions for another product to eval?

So, I am expecting a Black Rain Ordnance Nickel Boron coated BCG to be returned from a customer soon. Since not many people have had a chance to try a Nickel-Boron coated BCG for themselves, myself included, I have decided to let members of this forum give this BCG a test run. I do not know how I will let this pan out, but I am thinking we start a list of interested members here and each person will be responsible for sending the BCG to the next person in line. The only cost anyone will be responsible for is the insured shipping with signature confirmation to the next person. The first person on the list gets to try it for free, since I will ship it to them for free;) Everyone else is just responsible for the shipping...I will not charge anything for you to test it out.

I am thinking we should cap the number of members to 10 or so, but am open to suggestions. Each member should also have a minimum post count (TBD, but for now let's say 250 posts;) ) and be willing to post their range report in this thread (the good and the bad). If anyone has any suggestions on making this a smooth endeavor, I am all ears.

Stay tuned for BCG Hot Potato!

UPDATE 11/28/12:

The BCG is en route back to me, so we should be able to get this started soon. I will make sure everything looks good to go before I send it out. Originally, I was thinking of letting the BCG stay dirty, but after thinking about it some more, I do not think that will help with letting those who are trying these to get a better experience. Having each shooter do their normal post-range session cleaning will allow each shooter to notice any difference in cleaning a coated BCG vs. a standard mil-spec BCG. Keeping a log of your range session is a good idea, not really for this purpose, but more so because it is a good idea to keep logs of your range session anyways.

* By participating in this trial, you agree that you are using the provided Black Rain Ordnance BCG at your own risk. You must inspect the BCG upon receipt and if anything looks abnormal, do not use it...contact me and I will provide a replacement if available.

Simple Rules:

1) Inspect BCG prior to use (good=use, no good=don't use)
2) Take it to the range and try it out
3) Perform your normal post-range session cleaning
4) Ship it via USPS Priority Mail (Small Flat Rate Box with Signature Confirmation)to the next person on the list
5) Tell us what you think

I will add to the above and/or make any changes if needed. I will reread through the other posts here to see if I need to add any additional details.

Sign me up I would like to give it a try over the weekend and see what 250 rds cleans up like on the Ni-Bor surface

purehavoc 11-26-2012 03:38 PM

Also , whats the time limit , I only want it in my hands for 2 days tops and pass it on . You want it cleaned before you send it back out because I dont care if it comes dirty to me , In all honesty the dirtier the better

Fantastic idea, X! I'm not interested in participating since I'm sticking with milspec but I would be curious what others experience. Definitely have everyone keep an accurate round count and what ammo they used, it would be interesting how the BR performs over 2,500+ rounds and ten or so rifles. Curious, why did the customer return it? I hope it wasn't something negative we (or I) said!
