Help outfitting ar15
Hey there, I'm new to ar15 rifles and need some help with my dpms ap4 carbine, I already have a magpul stock, forend, grip, rear flip up sight, and front forend sight. I want to next get rid of the stock gas block and put on a flat style for the magpul front sight, then a 45 degree mount for a holographic sight. So here are my questions
1. What gas block is best for this gun and the front flip up sight
2. What's the best holographic sight for 100$
3. When I remove the stock gas block is the front ring that holds the forend going to stay there? Is it pressed on?

I put a sightmark qd ultra on my ar. It was 100 dollars. Its a reflex and has held up so far. I know everyone will say to get an aimpoint or eotech. Just saying what works for me and my limited shooting. If you shoot alot save up and get an eotech. I've never used one but everyone swears by them.

Grind off the front sight post and bayonet lug to create the absolute best low profile gas block. Install a Midwest Industries free float rifle length rail to mount your flip up front sight.
The ring (handguard cap) is just held in place by the gas block/sight.
I have a Tru Glo red dot on an AR, bought on sale for 29.99. Works great for plinking. The Tru Glo is made for shotguns, I think it can handle AR 15 recoil.
Don't put a Magpul sight on a gas block, the polymer will melt.

the magpul flip ups do not fare well on a gas block , it gets hot and will melt the sight , If you take it off and put on another gas block chances are your front hanguard mount may not work depending on the gas block , for $100 I would take a look at primary arms micro dot or their variant of this . I say save up a little bit more and for around $149-$169 the vortex strike fire or $189 and look at the vortex sparc for a 45 deg mountable RDS

Thanks for the info on the front magpul sights I wondered why everyone kept using different front sights than magpul, and I might just grind off my front gas block because I won't be mounting anything on there it seems. And on the holographic sight, I don't have the money to spend on a 450$ holographic sight, if I did I wouldn't be asking, but ill just research it myself. I might just get a truglo for messing around till I can spend way more on my ar

They do make metal flip up front sights if you still want to change it, not sure on pricing though.

Woohoo. Don't go grinding off the gas block. You are going to need that if you won't your gun to shoot. Unless your just talking about. Grinding off the sight post?
