Heavy buffer

How much should it weight

Quentin 02-13-2012 02:01 AM

The H-buffer weighs about 3.8 oz, 0.9 oz heavier than a standard carbine buffer.

GREGULON 02-13-2012 02:10 AM

I got one that is 4.5 ounces is that to heavy.

Typically I have found that a H buffer or H2 would be as heavy as you would need to maybe improve recoil recovery, improving doubles and triples and maybe a stiffer spring depending on the power of the ammo used. I would definitely make sure there were no FTF or fail to FTE before taking into harms way after making an adjustments like this. Your mileage may vary and I am just assuming you wanted to improve control of recoil for faster follow up shots and not some other issue you might be having with your weapon.

A Spikes? It's between the H and H2 (4.7 oz) but I thought it was more like 4.3

Good post, G23! I use an H with my M16 BCG and H2 with my AR style BCG and find they cycle well with low power ammo in my two 16" midlengths.

The A5 system on my DD is around 5.4 oz other than that I use the Spikes T2. It all depends on your AR.

GREGULON 02-13-2012 03:56 AM

My AR is from Surplus Arms & Ammo with a Mil spec tube.

Most ports vary in size from manufacturer to manufacturer so you'll need to experiment w/ buffer weight to see which works best for your AR.
