Default Head spacing on M&P 15 Sport?

I just bought an M&P 15 Sport and while I'm waiting for it to get out of Jail, I put in a special order to my reloader. When I mentioned I was getting a new AR15 he said it was critical to make sure it was properly head spaced. Is it safe to assume that Smith&Wesson automatically comes properly spaced? I can see where it could be an issue on a personal build, but a line produced weapon from a major player ought to be ready to go.

I hit it...didn't I?

The S&W should be ready to shoot. That guy might be making a blanket statement to cover himself and the reloads. ARs are the least likely centerfire rifle to need headspacing, even personal builds.
The biggest issue with assembling an AR isn't so much getting the parts together right - it's getting the right parts together.

Hard to screw up the headspacing on an AR. It is "fixed" as the barrel extension and bolt have direct interface. The only way it could be off is if the barrel, extension or bolt were made out of spec.
In life, strive to take the high road....It offers a better field of fire.
