With the lower complete I moved onto the charging handle. Based on recommendations form other members I installed a badger Tactical latch on my STAG. I liked it so much so that I installed it on my 458.

Original latch shown for comparison - it really is worth the $15-$20

Next up was to mate the lower and upper

and now for some gun pron .....

A few things that you may not notice or see about this build. I installed a set of Yankee Hill Machine take down pins. They really make opening or separating the receivers much easier and I feel worth every penny. As with my STAG I installed a RRA 2 Stage trigger, it has been highly recommended and I do like it. Due to the .458 caliber I installed an upgraded Wolff spring and a H2 buffer.

Range time won't happen until next weekend. And don't go badgering for 5shot groups! This ammo is pricey and since I like to use my 10rd mags at the range I will be shooting 3rd groups.

I would like to take this moment to say thank you to all the folks that make this forum so awesome. I came here knowing absolutely nothing about firearms other than to point and pull the trigger. I have now completed a build with the precise intention that I will be forced to get in reloading as well, further delving into the sport and hobby of firearms.

So how much do you have wrapped up in the lower build and the upper. Separate the price as I may build one instead of buying.

Doc
This is not the best build to use as a price comparison. This is a special caliber and has many upgrades. Check the link below for a more basic build.

I pm'd Doc some info on the build. I'm not comfortable putting the cost out here on the open forum as building these is how Marty makes a living.

I will say this, I am more than pleased and very impressed with his work. I would gladly have paid more and had even budgeted a good bit more for this project.

Anybody else who is interested in possibly building or purchasing a .458SSOCOM would be wise to contact Marty at Teppo Jutsu. I have to give him an enormous thanks and props.

Looks great. Here's an FYI to any of you fellows that build or are planning on building an AR. The front take down pin install can be a PITA. This will be the best $4 you ever spent and save you lots of headaches searching for launched spring. Drop spring & pin through hole in end of tool, take punch to push it down and twist tool to trap pin. Shove front takedown pin into hole thus pushing out tool.

Here's the trick, free of charge In order to keep from launching those little bastard pins I flipped the punch tool around and slid the shaft through the pivot hole - fit perfectly. Work the pin and spring in and slide the punch over to retain it, then slide the new pivot pin into place and viola - no launched pin!

But wait, there's more .....
