Default Hand guard end cap

He mentioned in the earlier posts he wanted to use a low profile gas block. I'm a little confused why he is showing a barrel with a fsb.

Now I understand and as you were advised you will not have a Delta Ring, Snap Ring or Weld Spring! They are gone! You have the Quad Rail Barrel Nut, Lock Ring and Quad Rail. No end cap is needed and I would not want one! You need good access to clean and lube underneath the Quad Rail.I have one just like the YHM you showed except I have it in the Car Length on my 458 SOCOM. Fine unit~ No problem with going with a low profile gas block and having a longer Quad Rail. There are also iron sights made for this application. And if you are going to use optics you are good to go! The midlength would have been my preference also but already built the upper! I have a RRA Elite CAR A-4 that is a midlength rifle and love it!
Great project! Keep us informed! Here is my application. I also needed it for the NV unit to mount out front.

Clean and lube what exactly? What is under the free float rail you need to lube on any sort of regular basis?

Anyway, for the price I'd just go with the YHM and forget the whole endcap thing. Without a front sight base and front sight post, you'll have to fudge it with that ring thing. Just go free float, (you'll be glad you did later, trust me) and wala. You already have the low profile gas block so you're half the way to free floating already. And for the record, I have the endcap, and think it makes it look 10x cleaner. Also, you may want to research the lightweight version. I've heard they come loose often. I have the diamond and it's rock solid BTW.
