In other news:

While the OP is still active on the forum, I do believe he made his decision months ago as the thread is from March/April.

If we must argue, let us do it for someone who is still in the market to make a decision on a purchase.

Just sayin'

Awesome building is a fun venture.

I'm not knocking DSC or any other manufacturer.

I'm simply stating the fact the in general following the mil-spec TDPs makes for a more reliable rifle. Theres a lot that goes into meeting or exceeding the TDPs. Granted sometimes it might take hard use for these differences to be seen.

No argument here. Nor did I revive this thread. Just stating FACT as Id hate someone new to see such a statement and take it for fact to later be horrible dissapointed.

ok chipjones54, accepted...

Anyway my Colt Series '70 and a friend's Colt 1991 are well made 1911s. The newer one is rougher but gobbles up ammo as well as mine. Lots of Colt ARs out there and they should stand up to abuse better than cheaper brands. I don't own a Colt AR but won't say anything bad about their milspec versions.

OP has indeed made his decision months ago and wishes the thread closed.
