Are you sure? Even DPMS wouldn't be that stupid. Do you have a link?

They do make a raised rail upper receiver - http://www.dpmsinc.com/store/products/?prod=819&cat=1704 but I would think one would recognize that when buying it

From the pic it doesn't look as if the DPMS upper receiver is any taller than any other receiver. It looks like the handguard is smaller in diameter, resulting in a lower sitting front sight. If that is the case you can either get a proper diameter handguard or get a taller front sight.

Well that's what I get for giving them the benefit of the doubt. This is why I buy from companies who stick to common specs.

OP, sounds like getting a gas block specific front site would ease your troubles.

YHM makes a folding gas block front sight that is made to attach to the gas block and will compensate for the additional height needed. That will cure your problem.

Here's a link:

I have a DPMS and the receiver height is normal. I have a 4 rail gas block that is lower than the receiver height. I have no problem with my irons matching up when attached to the gas block. My front sight is designed to go on the gas block and is the correct height. It does take a taller front sight but it is pretty much standardized. The lgs even had them in stock.

Have you shot the gun yet? And it won't zero?
