I was hoping someone can help me with picking the right gas port size for a 16" mid gas system. I'm running a carbine buffer and tube. I have an H and H2 buffer. I was told that a .750 might be to big. I know there are a few sizes out there for 16" middies . I keep finding the .750. I'm going to agin show Saturday and want to figure this out. I don't want to over or under gas the operation.

Thanks guys.

Lol ur port is not 0.75". That measurement is the thickness of the barrel where the gas block mounts. It ab be .625, .750 and I belive a bull barrel is .925 Unless you have the proper hardware or are willing to have a gunsmith do some custom work on it, the gas port is already drilled by the barrel maker. Gas ports are not a stat you should really worry about when assembling an AR.

Agent Tiki,

Thanks for pulling my head out ...I don't know why it sounded like the hole size. In another post of mine people were commenting on the .750

Yes. A 3/4 inch gas port is way too large.

I found this thread on ar15.com which might shed some light on your question.
