Default Gas blocks

I've been on bcms website and I was looking at a 16 midlength upper with an 11 inch handguard. Thing is I want a 15 inch handguard and found one on the site. Now the thing is any of the uppers that come minus the handguard have the fixed front sight.

What's the deal? Is it easy enough to swap out to a low profile? I saw a vid on YouTube where a guy shaved it down himself is this a good idea?

Do not try and remove a BCM fsb. Its a total pain in the @ss. They pin that &$^[$&$* on like its welded to the barrel. Shaving it will save you time and money and its very light and low profile. Or you can ask BCM to forgo the front sight and put a lo profile GB from the get go.

Thanks for the reply! So could you shave it in place on the barrel? I think asking them to put on a low profile would be the best option lol

The best option is a low profile gas block pinned by BCM

Failing that, shaving it is not difficult and not too much work, if you have the right tools.
