It is QUITE safe to convert a Nerf Gun to .50 BMG. No gunsmith has ever died or been injured while doing this conversion.

SHOOTING one, on the other hand, .............

Not legally. It is much cheaper in the long run to just buy one and get your tax stamp.

You can not convert/modify any firearm to shoot fully automatic. PERIOD! If its not on the transferable list/registry IT IS A NO GO! Go buy you a $14,000.00 M16 pay your $200 tax stamp and wait until it gets approved. Oh yeah I forgot to mention the class 3 dealer you buy from will hold the M16 until all paper work is returned completed.

Forgot to mention this as well. Whenever you are out and about shooting your new class 3 weapon, you damn well better have the tax stamp with you at all times. Want to take it to gunsmith for cleaning or repair? You better have the tax stamp with you as well. Want to go shoot it at a local range? Better call ahead to see if they allow class 3 weapons on their range. And those are few far between.
