The average shooter can fire a semi-auto rifle plenty fast enough and maintain control of where he's shooting at the same time.

It made a lot of sense when the Marines went to the 3-round "burst-fire" M-16's in lieu of the full-auto. In a combat situation they found that many soldiers would squeeze the trigger at the first sign of trouble and empty their weapons in the first 2-seconds of the fight because they forgot to let go of the trigger. With the 3-round burst-fire M16, the worst that would happen if the trigger was not released was that 3-round were going to be wasted leaving 27-rounds in the magazine for the immediate fight at-hand.

I'm not against full-auto weapons and think they are plenty cool, but I can assure you that in combat you'll do much better with a semi-auto or burst-fire weapon

I fully agree Papa.

i enjoy shooting fully automatic weapons too. they are fun to shoot. i even support and respect the rights of other law abiding gun owners to exercise their right to legally own fully automatic weapons if they so choose to. just my standpoint is for myself, i have no desire to own such weapons, based on cost and practicalibity. this i just my viewpoint and mine alone. i believe a semi auto to be more accurate, cost efficient and practical. that said, i will jump at any chance i get to shoot them and have a good time doing so.

Slidefire Stock $350 -Hope you like buying ammo! You could always buy a. 22 M&P or something similar and slap a Slidefire on it -and shoot for pennies.

you do realize that resurrecting a thread that's over a year old requires you to buy the birthday cake?

I have a nerf gun and would like to convert it to .50 BMG.
Is this something I can safely do?
Please do not reply to this question for a year.

I am an ambitious incompetent gunsmith and really want to try this.
I am almost done, but since I do not have any .50 ammunition. Can I use HairSpray and a lead fishing weight.
