Fnscar vs fnar

Why would I pay more for the FNSCAR over the FNAR?

PlaysWithZombies 05-23-2012 11:32 PM

Because you like it more?

kycol 05-23-2012 11:32 PM

Because they cost more

Besides the easier disassembly of the scar, they both seem to be a quality firearm.

Where have you found a FN AR?

JonM 05-24-2012 04:37 AM

I dont believe fn is allowed to produce ar15 due to agreements with the us govt over their military supply contract. The scar is not an ar15

That's the way I understand it too. There have been a very few FN lower receivers to slip out but they're as rare as the Magpul China Doll. And of course FN barrels are common but no complete AR, at least here in the US. (Not counting M16s).

An FN AR actually isn't an AR15, its not even in the same category as the AR15 or Scar. It's supposed to be a tactical 'Browning Automatic rifle' Check em out.

Thanks. Didnt know about that one. If fn ever gets oit from under the no build thing they will be a force in the ar15 market

Didn't know about that one either. Probably not the best name choice from FN when their contract prevents them from selling an AR commercially.
