First AR. Quality options for $1000 or less

Ive been doing research and I see I have plenty of options. What I want is opinions, reviews, why you like it etc. Also feel free to tell me what to avoid. For instance I've heard DPMS tends to have problems. Also mil-spec lower is a necessity as I want to buy other fun uppers like the 50 beowulf

read all the stickies in the beginning of this section. lots of useful information there to be had.

there are some pretty knowledgeable people here on AR's.

If your price point is exactly 1000 its pretty hard to beat these 3 feature heavy and interesting quality AR's:

And this one is even a Piston with a very accurate (albeit unchromed) barrel

Check Palmetto State Armory. They have several deals going on, and their prices are hard to beat.

http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/featured/psa-16-hf-m4a1-ss12g2-strikefire-premium-carbine.html $899

http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/featured/psa-16-m4-premium-patrol-carbine-package.html $1100

They had a package yesterday with an EOTech optic for about $1000.

Sign up for their daily email specials, you will find something there quuickly

Im not a big fan of the Eotech , Any optics company that charges that kind of money and only provides a 2 yr warranty is not someone I want to work with . My buddy said they were the worst when he was in the army, replaced several and finally went to a Acog

Ugh, didn't even realize they only have a two year warranty!!!

Glad I only bought one of them so far! The problem is, I really like the more open field of view of the Eotech design.

I love the deals and I have the money! But I just moved to OK a couple months ago, I'm still in temporary housing so I can't get OK licensing. We were actually supposed to close on our dream house today but the appraiser wayyyyuy undervalued the house so we have to start the process over! Ugh. So until I have a permanent address I can't buy guns. It's also screwing with my school stuff because I can't use a P.O box as an address. That appraiser screwed us over!

@ Zeus and pure: In this price class there are 2 good systems Eotech 512 and Aimpoint PRO.
Both have thier pros and cons vs one another.

I find the targeting performance of the Eotech superior but of course the Aimpoint has much longer battery life and a repuation for greater robustness.
As a result I have an Aimpoint PRO on my CQB set up rifle and an EoTech on my Designated marksman rifle.

Are you military?

Your CAC in combination with your orders is consdiered sufficient to buy a gun even an "asault rifle" anywhere I know of.

I suppsoe it could be different in OK but....

before I got my local drivers license I just showd my CAC and my orders assigning me to the state (that counted as local residency) and they could legally sell me what I craved.

Not all gun shops know this though....
