Very nice! I am looking to build a 6.8 next. I already have the lower just deciding on the stock. I am not sure what to do with the upper. I am definitely going to build from scratch but I am not sure on the barrel. I don't want a stainless barrel and that seems to be the problem. I want to stay with a chrome lined barrel with the SPC II chamber. Also I am unsure on the bolt. I think I am going to get the rifle length carbon fiber free float tube for the hand guard.

Can I ask where you did your research? My primary function is going to be hunting. I reload and am really not planning on too high a round count on this rifle. So obviously ammo cost will not be a big deal either.

Looks like you reload as well. I have not heard of too many 6.8 owners that don't!

Looks great man, looking forward to the range report!

I did some research over at 68forums. I already own a Stag 223 and an very happy with it. Came across the Stag 5 h upper at ar15 sales. com for 425 shipped as was sold. I have shot the upper on my other lower and love it. Have yet to shoot it on my new lower with the acs stock. The way it sits now, its allot lighter than my Stag 2 t. I dont hunt so can't help you there but the following pic is at 200 yards on a bench with a bipod. Ignore the non grouped shots... Was sighting in.

And reloading is a must. Factory ammo is about $1.20 a round verse .50 cents a round

200 yds! That is a very nice group at that distance. Looks like my 200 yd group with my 7mm mag out of my 700! Very impressive out of an AR!

What type of bullet are you loading? I have had a hard time finding 6.8 bullets. I know that it is the same as the 270 but it seems like a heavy bullet. I have been looking at the Barnes 85 gn bullets. Also, what about brass and powder? Not looking for your data just trying to save same some heart ache.

Thanks!

I was using nosler 110 gn hp-bt. Hornady brass, cci 400 primers and h322 powder. It proved to be very accurate... As accurate as hornady match bullets. Working on a new load for nosler 130 gn bullets but haven't had a chance to get to the range
