So I've read that when the charging handle is pulled back completely the bolt should still be partially exposed (about 1/4") and if it's not, and goes back fully behind the ejection port, that could be causing the casings to hit the deflector there. Is that correct?

My bolt goes back fully behind the ejection port when the charging handle is pulled back.

Both my BCM's (middy and rifle) do the same thing. I don't worry about it.
