Eotech or Aimpoint

I have been using a Sig Sauer STS-081 RDS on my AR. I am considering an upgrade. For a tactical CQB rifle, which would you recommend and why? My exist RDS is fine, so I am not sure what I will gain. Any suggestions...

Can't go wrong with eotech.

I just bought the aimpoint PRO and really like it and for the price of $399.00 it's a good buy.

Eotech & Aimpoint are the only RDS top brands out there. Cant go wrong with either one. I do own an Eotech XPS2-0 as i like the design. Aimpoint models have a longer battery life compared to Eotechs.
For Eotech i recommend the XPS2-0 or 512. For Aimpoints i recommend H1 or the Patrol Pro. Also there are other alternative brand like Vortex StrikeFire or Sparc. You can check them out at PSA, they have 20% off with free shipping going on. Which i just bought the Sparc for $160. Hope it helps ;)

What difference should I expect with the Aimpoint vs the Sig STS-081 I have now? I am leaning toward the Eotech. Most of the guy I know doing this for a living, are using the Eotech or a Trijicon. And the Acog is out of my present budget. The battery life is not really an issue at 1000 hours the Eotech will only need batteries a couple times a year.

They are both good optics. My rule of thumb is if the military uses it then it must be good and able to take about anything you can throw at it. Eotech and Aimpoints are both top of the line right now in CQ

Your Sig STS-081 has 3moa. And it looks the same like my Bushnell TRS-25, same price range too. Or maybe same specs too. Eotech and Aimpoint models have 1moa, which is better IMO. I agree on battery life issue on Eotech, thats why i still chose Eotech. Browse around and some places have special deals on Eotechs or Aimpoints.

Aimpoint uses a 2 or 4 MOA dot. I had an eotech XPS 2, it worked great, sold it on the rifle it was mounted too, I'm running an aimpoint M4 on my current rifle and think I'm a bit faster on the aimpoint. Plus never having to shut it off is kind of nice. Either way you won't go wrong both are GTG. Maybe try an eotech since you've run a red dot. Worst case you can sell it and buy an aimpoint, the both hold their value very well.

I would go w/ a Aimpoint H1 w/ 2 MOA dot. The micros are great. 5 years constant on battery life, tough as hell, small, and light.

Only thing I'd like to recommend that you try out the sights first before committing to buying. See if you can handle one at a local gun store.
