DPMS Oracle 16" Flattop - heavily considering for my 1st AR
Been looking at this model for a while online....and today my LGS got one in for $850. I realize its not on the higher end of the quality spectrum but reviews seem solid and reliable.....and this sucker seems to feed anything you put through it. That price is a little high, but in this current climate its my own damn fault for waiting this long.....but $850 aint bad. Has a lightweight frame and barrel....forward assist....charging handle seemed pretty smooth....and its got a nice look and feel. No rail on the handguard but oh well, that can be fixed
Not bad for a basic bare bones start AR methinks, anyone have feedback?

The oracle is good. The AP4 is better. Stay away from the sportical. It has a thin barrel , that will not last over time.
I own a AP4. It is very accurate, and I have close to 5000 rounds down range. I swear to god, not one hick up. But then again I started using the M 16 platform in 1971. I know how to take care of them, and how to make them run flawlessly.

Nothing wrong with those guns (this is coming form a guy who enjoys expensive AR's but realizes its a hobbyism not a must)
And at that price you cant go wrong and with money saved might be able to justify upgrading your stock to a nice Magpul sometime

We spend SO MUCH money on guns to have redudancy "just in case" they get outlawed.
We spend SO MUCH on extra ammo so we will always have a stash "just in case" its outlawed..
If we just spent half of that money on supporting the NRA, we wouldn't have to worry about maintaining a stash "just in case"
Thanks guys, any recommendations for flip up front & rear sights? This one did NOT come with an A4 front sight post. This will be a gradual project to tac it up.....and sights are #1 on my list and I dont wanna rely solely on an optic. I plan to co-witness the sights
I have added some extras to make it more functional Magpul ACS stock, Magpul MOE Carbine forend, vortex strikefire red/green dot, UTG pistol grip, MFT React fore grip, ProMag dual sling plate, Blackhawk single point sling. it came out great I'll try to get some pics up tomorrow still gotta get my iron sights tho that's the next purchase then Im done
Thanks, I did notice that the gas block mini rail was slightly lower than the rest of the top rail. What would you suggest....using handguard height and getting for example a Magpul front sight.....or a DPMS Oracle specific front sight thats raised to compensate for the height difference?
I guess it comes down to personal preference but would the gas block rail tend to shift the front sight with all the pressure escaping?
I'm goin with gas block because to get a good quality quad rail will cost quite a bit that's why I went with a Magpul moe forend but with he quality gas block front sight it will not move or shift when tightened properly with a little bit of loctite if needed on so
E sights but he Yankee hill front sight is very well made and well review same with the Midwest industries but just don't get a polymer front sight for the gas block it may melt under heavy use
