Not a problem. I'm glad I could give you info to help you make a decision. Now my question to is now, what glass do you plan on putting on top on that bad boy?

I've narrowed it down to three options, nightforce nxs 3-15x56 velocity, vortex viper mrad ebr2, or a rapid reticle 900

I have a Les Baer .308 Semi-Auto Sniper with a 20-inch barrel that I use for precision tactical rifle competition.

One of the targets that is sometimes used is at 818 meters (894 yards) at the range where I shoot. The problem with shooting that distance is not so much the capability of the rifle or round, but the crosswind conditions encountered over that distance.

From the day you start shooting, keep a notebook with the ammunition used, distances shot and the environmental and wind conditions. Building your personal "dope" information for the rifle will be an invaluable asset for you.

If you want to shoot over 600 yards, depending upon the size of the target, I'd recommend a scope with a higher magnification than 15x. I use a U.S. Optics 3.8 - 22x scope, and at times wish it would go up a bit higher in magnification.

One of the things I have found to have a significant effect on accuracy is the concentricity of the ammunition. I bought a concentricity gage and check every round that I use. It's tedious, but if you can get (or verify) every bullet to be within 0.001 of zero, you will find that your accuracy will be improved.

If you can reload your own ammunition, that will help a great deal with concentricity. If you're buying .308, the Federal Match .308 ammunition quality control seems better than Remington, Winchester, or the standard Federal ammunition.

I got the rifle through Crazy John (CJ) in Idaho. When I bought the rifle, the list price was $3300 and the price through CJ was $3100. With two extra magazines and a couple of other extras, the price was $3200. It takes about 6 or more months to get one as each rifle is built after it is ordered.

The receiver, bolt, and bolt carrier were designed by Les specifically for his .308 series rifles, and he manufactures all of the parts including the barrel. The Enforcer muzzle brake makes the gun recoil about like a .243.

The gun came with two test targets shot by Les at 100 yards and signed by him. The largest spread on a target is slightly over 0.375 inches.

The only problem with the rifle is that it is heavy. The gun by itself weighs almost 10.5 lbs (with bipod), and with the US Optics scope is about 13 pounds. A lot of the weight has to do with the size of the receiver (larger than any other AR10) and the medium weight barrel. The benefit is the lower recoil and steadiness on the bipod. The downside is shooting from the shoulder is a real workout - and it's hardly an all day carry field gun.

It is an easy rifle to shoot accurately. 600 yard shots at a 10-inch target are amazingly simple once you have the elevation dialed in. From a bipod or rest, you can hit the target as fast as you can pull the trigger. The ability to hit targets at 800+ yards has more to do with your ability to figure out the environmental conditions that the rifle itself.

I would guess the GAP10, JP Rifles LRP-07 and other precision .308's should give the same type of results.
