Any ideas for an optic? Planned on a med to long range gun so think I'd like an optic w a little more power than a 1-4.

Yep, a good 3-9x or 2-7x should work well.

The Nikon 223 is hard to beat for the price. Dot+Magnifier gives a few more options but at a higher pricetag. Just put the Nikon on a quick release mount and add some nice back up irons.

Sorry about the double post, phone screwing up again...

cheap side nikon p223 is low as i would go. my pref is trijicon and nightforce. i lean trijicon for a lot of stuff other than precision precision shooting. i run a acog 4x on my bcm and got a 1-4 accupoint coming for my scar17. i also use a trijicon 3-9accupoint with mildot on my scar17.

I like the Burris FFII in 3x9 with a Ballistic plex, but it's not so great if you want flip up covers. The whole eyepiece turns and puts the open cover in the path of the charging handle. The Leo has a separate power dial. I've never got sold on Nikons but can't say why other than the big azz knobs on the AR series.

So mid to long range like 300 yards to 600?
Is your goal minute of bad guy/12" gong? or sub moa groups?
