Dedicated 22 uppers.
I dont know if this belongs in rimfire but I'll take a chance, mods move it if you see fit.
I am looking to buy a dedicated 22 upper for an AR that takes the same mags as my Sig 522... So that would be the same black dog mags as the ceiner and cmmg conversions. I am planning on building a .22 dedicated AR platform. I dont even own one in .223 so I am going to start from scratch.
Who makes such an upper? Is the cheaperthandirt Velocity Firearms upper compatable? Is 400 a rip off?
Thanks, Zac

Ah, but I want to be able to thow a .223 upper on it... I already have a sig 522 for a true 22 toy... I want to build something I can throw the bigger rounds throgh as well.
I am not buying anything from cheaperthandirt.. i simply used them as a handy price reference since I had one here.

I have the Colt Umarex M4 OPS and have found the mags NOT interchangeable with other makes.

Ok, so let me get this straight. You already have a Sig 522. Now you want to build an AR, but in .22LR, so that you can have the ability to swap a .223 upper on it when you want to?
So if you already have the Sig, why would you want to build the AR into another .22?
Why not build it as a dedicated .223/5.56, and if need be, buy a CMMG conversion or one of the others for it? That way, at least you would have expanded your available options.

You sure you're not just finding a way to spend money?

I despise .223... but I dont want to limit myself to .22 if the need be. And I dont want my .22's bouncing down a .223 barrel, though little occurs... I would rather have a dedicated upper.
And yes, I need something to blow money on.

So you despise .223, want to blow money on a .22 upper, but already have your Sig 522 dedicated .22 Toy.
So tell me again why you would want ANOTHER .22, even if it is in the shape of an AR?
