I bought one of the cheap ptac bcg , I pulled the bolt and it was stamped MPI, there was some machining marks on the bcg but it works flawless . I have always used the standard PSA lpks but picked up a ptac to finish up a cheap build . Trigger was really nice . The parts them selves were good but the phosphate finish on them was not consistant . I have phosphated barrels before and when the finish does not come out right it was not properly degreased , thats what the LPK looked like . No biggy just cosmetic and was priced properly for what it is

I went for the 14.7 pinned rifle kit, I'll use the barrel and upper with my seekins lower and take the upper from the seekins and put it with the covert carry kit, now I have to find a decent priced lower. Anyone know the discount codes for the vendors? I only remember RogTac's

PSA complete lower and upper. Together you have a nice rifle for under $500 and all you need is optics.

Lower
http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/psa-ar-15-complete-blem-lower-classic-edition-no-magazine.html

Upper
http://palmettostatearmory.com/index.php/ptac-16-mid-length-5-56mm-1-7-upper-with-bcg-and-charging-handle.html

Would make a nice starter rifle.

  • Great deal
  • All that's left to buy is a rear sight, mags, ammo, and optics (if desired)
  • Superior to many $600-900 complete ARs available locally for most folks
  • Midlength gas= upgrade
  • C158 M16 BCG= upgrade
  • PSA parts are generally milspec and quite good, with decent triggers

This is a great entry level rifle. And for around $200 more ($650-800 total) you can put together a midlength PSA (rather than PTAC upper) CHF rifle...which will generally be as good or better than the typical $1100 Colt in my opinion.

So whether you want a Wally World entry level AR or something like a Colt, there's a deal to be had here.

Anyone else do this? What all do you keep in it?
Only down side to buying the parts from is the slow turn around
