It does kind of bother me. There's another smaller gash like area with similar depth and width. Oddly they're both connected to opening on the bolt carrier. I can't tell exactly how deep they go. But I saw them the second I pulled it out of the package. I wish I had a gun to put it into so I could see how it functions but the rifle isn't complete yet.

I've only tried their grips and stocks but everything I've seen from them is top shelf. Really like the type 23 grip, a little more vertical than an a2. Helps get better trigger finger placement without a full "ergo" profile change. Also the web swell is just right.
